Unconditional Mother's Love
In this post I want to share an experience that somehow touched me. Being a mother, it's something I can really identify with.
It was the time when we were living in an apartment in Indianapolis. Winter was soon upon us. It was actually getting closer to zero degrees. Winter had caused my patio area to become a little chaotic, and all the flowers and vegetables I had been growing had nearly completely dried up.
I barely opened my patio side door because it wasn't very pleasant outside. One early morning, I noticed some sunshine and decided to spend some quality time with my two girls. I therefore discovered a goose hatching eggs when I lifted my curtains. I was overjoyed to see it in.
I told this to both my daughters, and they were absolutely thrilled about having them at home. From that very day, we began looking after her as if she was a cherished pet. Both my daughters made it a daily routine to feed her and spend hours watching her, until that one morning when I witnessed those adorable little creatures hatching out from their eggshells. Out of the six eggs, five were alive, except for one that seemed unbroken. Vaani was confident that she can make the job done.😁😂.
Without informing either her father or me, she took her towel, carefully wrapped that egg, and placed it near her bed. It wasn't until I detected an unpleasant odor that made me aware of the situation. I instructed her to return it, but she was in tears, saying, "Mommy, how can we get the baby bird inside this egg out? It might die." After several attempts, she was eventually convinced that the egg had gone bad.
"Throughout this journey, there were many delightful moments, but I want to highlight the most challenging part of it. During the last two weeks of the hatching period, the weather turned bitterly cold, and it even started snowing. Yet, her unwavering commitment to caring for her eggs was nothing short of remarkable. She sat diligently day and night, often without pausing for food or water. It was truly a wonder to witness. One day I saw another goose inexplicably trying to attack her, she continued to do her best to protect her precious eggs, fighting off the threat and returning to their side. The very next day I saw a big blood spot on the nearby boundary wall and also, she was not there at her place. It was an unexpected event for me, which made me think of everything ruined here. But when I closely observed, the eggs were there only. And later, after couple of minutes, I heard the mom's honk too. She was safely coming back to her eggs. Though I noticed some of the blood spots on her wings and neck too. Without any moment I understood how hard it would have been for her to fight and protect her family. She was not eating from last many days, she was physically weak but, A Mother Is Never Internally Weak. Finally, she won her battle and saved her future children.
Just see her dedication and love for those children, who are even not in front of her right now. But she is ready to give her life for them. This shows a "Mother's Protective Instinct", also called a mother's unconditional love. Simply say a mother's love! It defines thousands of words. The true love, nature has originated to protect this whole world with, be it mankind, animal or even birds.

Finally, after couple of days, one morning I surprisingly heard the chirping sound of birds. So, I opened my patio door, and I was literally amazed to see those 6 little creatures trying to overcome the struggle of coming out of their eggshells. Few of them were already out and snuggling near the mother and few were on the way.

Next day I saw one more goose joined the family. Looked like the father also joined the family 🦆❤️😍. Although I saw this scene around my apartment many times but couldn't take a picture instantly. We always recognized this family even between many geese. And now this incident had a happy ending for us and for them too!
The lessons we can learn from the world of birds include the universal, infinite and unconditional love that mothers provide to their children.
